I would like to install Mint on an empty hard drive on my computer that has Windows 7 installed on it as the main drive. It would seem that this is not difficult but having tried this several months ago I got poor results. Now I have some more time and would like to try again with guidance. I have a UEFI enabled motherboard. The NVMe driver does work within Windows 10 and does not have issues with previous version of Windows 10. If you look online, 1809 has caused issues with multiple drivers for different products. Using 1809 with the NVMe driver is what's triggering the BSOD, but the driver is not the source of the problem. Select operating system and under "Firmware" look for "Firmware Update for Samsung SM951 NVMe- Windows 8.1 and Windows 10" Download and execute the softpaq. Follow directions to run the FWUpdate.bat. After updating the firmware a restart will be required to activate the new firmware.
